Stocktoberfest East and the Cashtag Awards was yet another awesome fin-tech event powered by Howard Lindzon and the folks at Stocktwits.  This event’s location, Gustavino’s, was top shelf.  Kudos to all involved in planning.

First off, I have to thank everyone in the Stocktwits community for voting me as the first ever Stocktwits Rising Star.  I’m blown away.  I’m glad that my message and work resonates with so many of you.

I don’t get to the point where I have a great message or quality work without mentorship from those in the community.  Andy Nyquist, Chris Kimble, Sheldon McIntyre and so many more people have helped me get my head out of my ass along the way.  This hammers home the biggest lesson I’ve learned over the last 4-5 years.  Don’t be afraid to reach out and ask for help.

Howard mentioned he thinks there are dozens of other Josh Brown’s out there.  I couldn’t agree more.  I see the work you guys are putting in every day.  If you can handle the grind, you can get there.

Back to the event..

What amazes me about each Stocktoberfest is how friendly everyone is.  Everyone is there to learn, get to know like minded individuals and do deals.  It’s awesome.  If you ever come to a Stocktoberfest, come armed with knowledge.  You’ll be able to get some amazing perspective.

All day smart people were sharing their best ideas about the markets and the future of fintech.  The idea flow was thick.

I was fortunate enough to meet tons of members of the fintwit community including @Sassy_Spy, @OMillionaires, @HitTheBidRadio, @canuck2usa and @ReformedBroker to name a few.  Oh BTW, it’s impossible to know who somebody is if you don’t use your face as your profile pic.  If you’re not hiding from your firm’s compliance department, you should probably put your face out there.

It was great to see everyone and I can’t wait to do it again in October.
