My dog ran away yesterday. His name is Koda. I’ve had him for a year and a half and he’s my best friend. (Border Collies are incredible dogs BTW) Luckily, this story doesn’t end in tragedy. I found him two hours later unharmed.
Those two hours were the longest I’ve had in years though. It was a high stress situation.
You learn a lot about yourself in these situations. In that moment, I was filled with fear. I could only do so much to find him and the outcome was largely out of my control. Sounds familiar doesn’t it?
That typical emotional response says a lot about me. We have to work around whatever signature emotional responses we have to mold our trading style into our own.
That response is why I focus so hard on finding good entries. Having that quality, low risk entry area gives me the confidence to let the market do its thing whether right or wrong. If it doesn’t work out, oh well. I know I have the skillset to produce superior returns in all market conditions.
We’ve got to understand what signature emotional responses we have and how they affect our trading. Doing so makes our path to consistent profitability much easier.
Trade ’em well
